Kim began her association with Aftersight as a volunteer reader then joined the staff as the Director of Marketing in 2001. Kim became the Executive Director in November of 2018 when AINC’s founder, David Dawson, retired.  Before joining Aftersight, she served as a Business Development Manager for GE Access, a Senior Marketing Coordinator for the URS Corporation, and a Marketing Specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. She is a Colorado native growing up in Lamar.

Penn Street lost most of her eyesight at age nine from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) after being bit by a rattlesnake. Growing up Penn discovered that Accessibility was the key to her community, career, and the possibility of living her best life. Being an ADA Coordinator, Outreach Managers, and a member of Development Teams for Colorado’s nonprofit organizations has allowed Penn’s Accessibility-Passion to become reality. Penn sits on the Ensight Skills Center Board of Directors, Member and a Leadership Trainer with Lions Clubs International, and is continuously involved in accessibility advocacy.

Evan started as an intern at the Audio Information Network of Colorado. Evan has been an Aftersight listener since he was around five. After graduating from Northglenn High school in 2020, Evan attended the independence training program at the Colorado Center for the blind for nine months. Evan enjoys fixing computers, making music, and going on hikes. In sixth grade, Evan began teaching himself audio production and now edits and works on the audio that Aftersight listeners hear every day. Evan currently attends Front Range Community College and is pursuing a degree in computer information systems.

Michael comes to Aftersight after a 20 year career in the Aviation industry. Which took him across the country and back to Colorado.  He has a varied background From selling diamonds, to healthcare, to owning his own business. He is excited to be back in Colorado and extremely excited to work with people face to face again.

A native Coloradan, Jennifer is a wife to Ron from Trinidad & Tobago and mother to four kids ranging from 13-26 years of age. After attending Bible College in Minnesota, she served in Costa Rica, Colombia and Brazil for over 20+ years serving marginalized populations, presenting them with resources and opportunities to not only survive but thrive in life. She returned to the states in 2021 and began looking for jobs that would reach populations that needed care, connection and support. Her hobbies are macrame and horseback riding.

Brady Steffl is passionate about language and communication. He studied French, Spanish and education at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and after years of using writing as a creative outlet, he began writing professionally in 2012 at Kansas State University. There he was the Communications Coordinator for the physics department and split time between writing grants and other projects such as editing academic papers or textbooks. After moving to Boulder County in 2013, he began working as a grants consultant for area nonprofits. In 2021, he joined the Aftersight team.

Jonathan’s background includes leadership, content creation, and hands-on hobbies like music, cooking, and knife making, which add creativity and diversity to his projects. He is passionate about relationship building, supporting men and marriages, and promoting personal growth through faith and service. At Aftersight, Jonathan’s goal is to create content that inspires and informs, helping individuals overcome everyday challenges while advocating for accessibility and inclusion. Outside of his work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his two children and deepening his Christian faith.

Guide Dog


Beethoven, a goofy seven-year-old Standard Poodle, was born at the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, where he trained to be a guide dog. Just after his second birthday, Beethoven met Penn Street, and they began their journey as a team. Beethoven loves to travel, swim in waterfalls, hike tall mountains, and explore cities around the world with Penn. His impressive career has landed him star spotlights in newspapers, magazines, and newscasts. His new favorite pastime is curling up under Penn’s desk at the Aftersight office

Board of Directors

The Board meets 10 times annually providing guidance with budgetary issues, general policy, outreach efforts, fundraising and planning.  Board Terms are 3 years in length and may be renewed once. Terms are staggered and all members contribute financially. Board members bring lived experience and insight to our organization.

Cynde Vaughn

Board President


Ms. Vaughn has been actively involved in Disability Rights Advocacy at the national, state, and local levels
since she was a teenager. Having graduated from high school and starting her college education at 16, she
began her career as a disability rights activist while completing her undergraduate and graduate work in
Social Work. She earned a master’s in social work (with concentration: Administration/Planning: specializing
in Child Welfare & Child Sexual Abuse). She began her professional work as Social Services Director for a
national nonprofit agency providing residential and other supportive services to individuals with intellectual
and developmental disabilities. As a person with a disability herself, Ms. Vaughn is DeafBlind and has
chosen to dedicate her time, talent and expertise to serving individuals with a wide range of intellectual,
developmental, learning and physical disabilities.

Most recently, Ms. Vaughn was selected to serve as a Colorado DeafBlind Trainer to participate in a “Train
the Trainer program teaching Pro-Tactile American Sign Language for Interpreters, Support Service
Providers and DeafBlind citizens.

Megan Dunklee

Board Secretary


Megan began her journey with Aftersight as a volunteer in February 2010 shortly after moving to Colorado from Virginia. She has been reading the Monday edition of the Fort Collins Coloradoan ever since. Megan has been serving on the board since June 2016. Professionally she works as a writer.  

Ms. Kelly Dunklee is the office manager at Cook CPAs in Boulder, CO. She is in charge of making sure the
daily operations of the business run smoothly. Megan has previously volunteered with several organizations
in Colorado and her native Virginia. She has been volunteering with AINC since 2010. In her spare time,
Megan enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new places with her husband, and a good trivia game.

Melissa Fishburn

Treasurer


Melissa is a Colorado native born and raised in the Denver metro area. She works for Sprouts Farmers
Market as a Sales Ambassador, which is a marketing position. Melissa was born legally blind and struggled
to find adequate resources to reach her full potential as a person with vision loss. While she had
graduated high school and earned a college degree, with top honors, she did not feel complete and felt very
ashamed and embarrassed of her vision loss. Over the past nine years, she has opened many doors
and helped to break down barriers. She has volunteered work for the National Federation of the Blind
(NFB), Colorado Cross Disability Coalition (CCDC) and other various disability rights advocacy projects. In
2014 she received an ADA advocacy certificate by completing a course sponsored by CCDC. From 2013
until 2015 she was a board member for the NFB Denver based chapter, and from 2015 until 2018 she
served as chapter President for the Lakewood, Colorado NFB chapter.

Saray Alvarado, smiling

Ms. Alvarado’s professional background experience includes working as receptionist for Denver Housing
Authority, neighborhood medical outreach for Denver Health, and independent contractor specializing in
bilingual translation. She loves to garden and takes great pride in her flowers and home-grown vegetables.
Saray enjoys cooking and has transitioned herself to a Vegan diet as part of her commitment to improving her health. Saray loves animals and has 2 cats, 2 dogs and enjoys training companion service animals. She
loves music, enjoys singing and playing piano. Saray enjoys volunteering, and currently offers her time and
talents to her church.

Ms. Diane Rapue

Board Member


Ms. RaPue has a long work history in mainly finance and lending for both consumers and business owners.
She started my own business in 2019 and still has it as an active entity. She currently works full time as a
Branch Leader (Manager) for Canvas Credit Union at the downtown Denver Writer Square branch. She has
always been very involved with her community, whether it is through her employment or in her personal life.
Currently, she is a Board of Directors member for the Denver Audubon organization, as well as their
Treasurer. She is also very involved with my church, South Suburban Christian Church. She is involved with
her neighborhood civic association as a Member at Large. She was previously President of the Southwind
Civic Association for 20 years.

Dale Hill

Board Member


Dale lost his vision as a young man due to Bardet-Biedl Syndrome and continued to pursue his education, earning a BA in Contract and Political Science from Metro State College of Denver. He has served as Vice President of the American Council of the Blind and has been deeply involved in community work. Since 1998, Dale has been active with the United States JCI Scholarship Program, mentoring students and traveling to places like Denmark and Hawaii to secure scholarships for students all across the country.
