Executive Director’s Corner: Awards

By Kim Ann Wardlow

I and two other staff members attended the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS) annual convention in Columbus, Ohio. What we do is very unique and it is always enjoyable to meet with others in the industry. There is always something to learn.

After a two year hiatus, program of the year awards were presented in eight different categories, and AINC brought two home! The first was for our work in Newspapers for the Denver Post as read by Doug Crane. And, the second was for On Location for Aftersight Ep. 22: Penn and Evan Go Skiing!

While we were in Ohio, the rest of the team welcomed a group of five professionals from Tajikistan interested in disability rights. AINC was one stop on an International Visitor Leadership Program tour organized by the US State Department and the Boulder Council for International Visitors. Board President, Mark Mais, greeted the visitors, and Board Treasurer, Cynde Vaughn, shared her wealth of experience advocating for disability rights.

We have received the second round of possible new names for AINC. There will be one more round before we have a short list to share.

Happy Summer! – Kim
