AINC’s First Hike
This year, AINC is celebrating 30 years of broadcasts in conjunction with Colorado Gives Day! We’re building a fundraising event to keep that momentum going.
Evan Starnes – AINC Intern
Evan is AINC’s intern in charge of improving and maintaining audio quality for our programming. He has more than a great ear, though, he’s also got a head for technology and thoughtful insight into technology that could benefit our listeners.
Evan was one also of the ten visually-impaired hikers to summit the hike at Arapahoe basin. Though he loves being outdoors, he hadn’t done a hike in over a year during the pandemic. Evan said he was happy to have such a great experience that allowed him to jump right back in. He found the whole experience to be overwhelming, exerting, and though he was worried about sounding like a cliché, he said he was proud of what he could accomplish with just a couple of poles and a hiking partner.
Listener Spotlight: Robert Weinberg
Robert Weinberg is a passionate and talented photographer who was struck with central vision loss when he was about 50 years old. Robert, now 74, has had an amazing journey. He candidly shared how the finality of his diagnosis led through depression… but he emerged stronger. Robert eventually found renewed independence and a second career where he worked for 17 years. Now retired, Robert is reengaging with photography and full of encouragement for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.
Volunteer Appreciation
At AINC, we can’t do what we do without the time and talent of our generous volunteers. We want to thank our recent Volunteers of the Month: for September we thank Michael Ameigh who read and recorded an edition of Business Technology News that was as wonderful to listen to as it was informative. Paula Vaughan is October’s Volunteer with exceptional editions of the Crestone Eagle and Loveland News.
We thank all of our volunteers who put in thousands of hours every year to ensure that AINC offers high-quality media to our listeners.
A New Podcast

AINC recently launched our first podcast! Aftersight – a podcast about print disability and the life of possibilities that follows.
Penn Street began her journey into vision loss at the age of nine, and each week she is joined by a member of the community who can talk about how print- disability has impacted them – or how THEY have impacted the community. Conversations can be informative, or they can be stories of denial, depression, and grief that come with processing a life change – but together we grow and find solidarity.
On Aftersight, we learn and we share experiences. We hear how lives have changed, lives have stayed the same, and we’re always reminded that there is life AFTER sight.
Stop by and say, “Hi!”
