Global Recognition at IAAIS Conference
We are excited to announce that Aftersight has received global recognition at the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS) Annual Conference held from June 12-14. This event celebrates outstanding programs that transform text into speech, making information accessible for those who cannot read printed material due to blindness or low vision.
The IAAIS program awards are designed to promote quality programming among audio information services and showcase the diverse range of volunteer-read programs available. Entries are judged based on production value, pace, timing, and vocal quality. This year, Aftersight earned top honors in the On-Location category for the “Audio Trekkers Hike” episode from The Blind Chick podcast. This episode captured our annual event, where blind and low-vision individuals hike trails in the Rocky Mountains, such as the Chautauqua Royal Arch and Bluebell trails. On-location interviews highlighted hikers’ experiences, excitements, fears, and the profound impact on their lives.
In addition to this accolade, Aftersight and our volunteer Kathy Scott received an honorable mention in the Newspapers category for her work on the Audio Edition of the Pueblo Chieftain.
Outgoing IAAIS President Maryfrances Evans expressed, “We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such talented volunteers and dedicated staff who bring the printed word to life for thousands of print-disabled people throughout America. These awards highlight some of the extraordinary programs reading services around the country are producing.”
Aftersight’s achievements have put Colorado on the map for outstanding audio information services for the blind. We are incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and the recognition we have received.
